The 101 Insights for Shorter an More Productive Meetings is a collection of insights that has been designed to assist managers, executives and volunteers to conduct their team meetings more effectively and has been produced following extensive research on the matter.

Research conducted by Insight Plus with 150 CEOs, from a wide range of backgrounds, indicates that executives attend, on average, 44 meetings a month.  This translates to approximately 66 hours per month spent in meeting time - the equivalent of eight working days.  That means that more than one-third of an executive's working life is taken up in meetings. 

What is even more alarming is the fact that, on average, the executives in our sample considered that close to one quarter of the meetings they attend are unproductive or less than satisfactory.

Our research indicates that the five most frustrating aspects of meetings for executives are:

• no clear purpose or objective for the meeting
• lack of adequate control of participants, by the chair
• no clear outcomes emerging from the meeting
• verbosity or long-windedness of participants
• participants getting of the topic
